Criteria for Admission

A Vocation is a call from God. To clarify this call needs faith, prayer and discernment.
This process takes time and the discernment is for the Individual Person and for the Religious Order. It involves getting to know each other, visiting the communities and seeing just what the Order’s ministry is all about.
To start with – here are some of the criteria needed to be a Brother of Saint John of God :

• It is necessary to be a single, practising Catholic man.
• One needs to be healthy and have a positive outlook on life.
• It’s important to have a caring capacity within ones life.
• To want to improve the quality of life for people especially those disadvantaged.
• To have a desire to serve God and His people as a Religious Brother.
• Candidates must be free of obligations which would prevent him from undertaking Religious Life. Obligations such as legal, family responsibilities, financial obligations. In other words – free to give oneself to God and the Mission of Hospitality as a Religious Brother.
